How can art, media and culture contribute to building better imagination infrastructures and redefining how we practice participatory planning at scale?

Les Matérialistes is a participatory futuring project to incite change and invite action towards a circular transition in the construction industry in Quebec and beyond.

Going beyond the usual post-its and written report, Les Matérialistes is an engaging film crafted through the imagination and expertise of more than 30 actors embedded in existing systems, trends observed around the world as well as the creative leadership of the main partners: RECYQ Québec, Dark Matter Labs, Architecture sans frontière Québec. The project aims to propel viewers into an practical utopia, deeply rooted in the realities of today and is meant as a conversation starter.

The main objectives are to raise awareness of the challenges and prospects of circular economy in the building sector, change cultural perceptions of materials and their value, instil optimism around near future possibilities, convene the vital forces of the sector and educate, inform and inspire the actors within the system.
